I love doing what I do! I love feeling like I have purpose and that being here makes a difference. I’ve heard comments that ‘it takes a special kind of person’ to do this job and that makes me smile because I don’t think it’s me that is special, it’s the bond formed between the person helping and those needing help.

I am a registered nurse in a long term care facility in Dassel, MN. I have been employed with the same facility since 2006.

I began my career in health care as a nursing assistant in 1999. I worked as a NAR for ten years, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The residents became part of my extended family as I provided care for them and got to know each of them as an individual. In 2009, I decided to further my education to become a registered nurse. I had my TMA at this point and first completed the LPN program, working as Licensed Practical Nurse while I then finished the RN program. I graduated in December of 2013. Long term care has always been my passion and continues to be.

The support from my employer and the network of long term care groups was essential in helping me achieve my goal of becoming an RN. I had many scholarships made available to me due to my commitment to serve the elderly and continue my career in long term care. Working with the elderly is truly a rewarding experience!
